The airline Air Belgium experienced technical problems on Friday February 3, 2023 with the Airbus A330-200 with registration OE-LCL. As a result, flight KF5961 was delayed more than 24 hours.
The long-haul jet was supposed to fly from Charleroi to Fort de France and Pointe-à-Pitre on Friday morning. However, the start had to be postponed for technical reasons. The repair work took longer than expected, so that Air Belgium had to postpone the new date repeatedly.
The passengers were already on board on Friday. After more than two hours of waiting, the bad news came that the start was not possible for technical reasons. The travelers were asked to leave the OE-LCL. Since the problems could not be resolved on the originally planned day of departure, the travelers were taken to hotels.
It was then decided that the Airbus A330-900 with the registration OE-ABG would be deployed towards Fort-de-France on Saturday. This machine was previously used on behalf of Condor and was specially transferred from Frankfurt am Main to Charleroi. The scheduled commercial flight to Martinique took off at around 14:00 p.m.
Those passengers who wanted to fly to Pointe-à-Pitre had to wait until the OE-LCL is operational again. The work continued throughout the day. Air Belgium was only able to take off with this Airbus A330-200 late on Saturday afternoon.
