The Star Alliance member Air Canada will include Covid-17 insurance for all new bookings from September 2020, 19. The offer is initially valid until October 31, 2020 and is currently only available to people who purchase their ticket in Canada. The carrier has not yet said whether a rollout to other countries or a continuation of the campaign is planned.

The insurance is included in all bookings made in Canada between September 17 and October 31, 2020 and is currently expressly reserved for residents of Canada. Air Canada states the coverage as follows: up to 200.000 Canadian dollars for treatment costs related to Covid-19, up to 150 Canadian dollars for quarantine costs (room and board), but a maximum of 300 Canadian dollars per family for a maximum of 14 days. In addition, up to 500 Canadian dollars will be reimbursed for the return trip if it is a country that has been assigned a travel warning level three or four by the government. The prerequisite is that the illness occurs abroad and the maximum travel period up to April 12, 2021 is observed. The insurer is Manulife.

Another insurance product is also offered in cooperation with Allianz. This is also open to passengers who are not resident in Canada. For this, however, a premium has to be paid to the insurance company.
