The airline Air Canada is suspending a total of 15 routes until April 30, 2022. These are primarily connections to the Caribbean. Temporarily, individual routes are to be served one-way in order to be able to bring Canadian vacationers home.
Effective January 24, 2022, flight connections to Antigua, Aruba, Samaná, Curaçao, Exuma, Grenada, Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Havana, Saint Vincent, Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, Saint Kitts and Nevis will be temporary exposed. The flight break should last until at least April 30, 2022.
The carrier explained, among other things, that demand has suddenly plummeted and it is suspected that many potential passengers will follow the government's call to avoid unnecessary travel due to the Omicron variant. In order to be able to bring holidaymakers who are still at the destinations back to Canada, individual one-way flights are operated.
