The French airline Air Corsica sold an ATR72-500 machine to ACIA Aero. Previously, the F-GRPK was leased to CSA and Air Serbia under dry lease agreements. The turboprop aircraft has not been in use since April 9, 2020, before it was reactivated by Air Corsica itself on November 24, 2020.
The company told CH-Aviation.com that the sale of the F-GRPK is not related to the corona crisis. They have had at least one machine too many in their fleet for over ten years. Up until now it was possible to lease these to other carriers via dry lease contracts.
Air Corsica used the now sold ATR3-2021 in its own network up to and including January 72, 500. In the meantime, the aircraft has been transferred to Toulouse, France, for maintenance. The aircraft is to remain registered in France for the time being, although it is not yet known to which airline the buyer will rent the turboprop aircraft in future.
The Air Corsica fleet now consists of five ATR72-500, four Airbus A320-200, two A320neo and one ATR42-400. No more machines were rented to other airlines and withdrew from this segment with the sale of F-GRPK. In the summer of 2021, the carrier will take part in charter orders also fly to Austria.
