The airline Air Côte d'Ivoire has decided to order two brand-new Airbus A330-900s. These are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2024 and the second quarter of 2025, respectively.
The carrier lets the newcomers have 240 seats. These will be divided into four transport classes. Air Côte d'Ivoire wants to use the A330-900 to expand traffic towards Europe, the USA and the Middle East. However, no specific destinations were mentioned when the order was announced.
The widebodies are a premiere for the airline, because up to now there have been no machines in this size class. The fleet currently consists of four de Havilland Dash 8-400, one Airbus A320neo, two A320ceo and two A319. In the past, they were also interested in two A319neos, but the corresponding order was changed to A330-900.
At the moment, destinations on the African continent are served almost exclusively. Charter flights also fly to one or the other island. With the incorporation of the long-haul aircraft, the intention is to expand on a larger scale. It therefore remains to be seen which new destinations Air Côte d'Ivoire will take on from 2024.
