The Italian airline Air Dolomiti has registered for Tuesday and Wednesday at Innsbruck Airport. The carrier's pilots train with Embraer 195s at this airport. There's a good reason for that.

In order to be allowed to fly to Innsbruck Airport, the pilots need special training. This is primarily due to the geographical features of this airport. Furthermore, the Tyrolean airport is prone to fog.

Air Dolomiti will complete the training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. You fly with an Embraer 195 from Munich to Innsbruck. Several training flights will then be carried out from/to Innsbruck. In the 2022 summer timetable, the Italian carrier, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, will Connect the state capital of Tyrol with the Frankfurt am Main crane hub.

Innsbruck is known for many things - but certainly not for fog! There are only a few days in winter when there is usually only fog at the airport until noon. The Dolomiti trained their training for the RNP procedures so that the lowest minimum can be used for the planned approaches from FRA. No training is required for the normal approach to Innsbruck and can be carried out by anyone in good weather.
