French regional airline Hop will modernize the cabins of its Embraer 190 fleet. The jets will not only receive new seats, but also new carpets and partitions.
The carrier confirmed that as part of the modernization, the cabin design will be adapted to that of the parent company Air France. Officially, they have not been flying under their own brand for a long time, as all flights on behalf of Air France are formally operated under AF flight numbers. Hop is used on many regional routes as a feeder for the parent company - including Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
The new seats are to be supplied by Expliseat and are characterized by the fact that they are made from a high proportion of carbon fiber and titanium. This is intended to save weight, which ultimately has a positive effect on the fuel consumption of regional jets. The seats will be manufactured in Angers. Hop wants to carry out the conversion of the cabins on his own in the hangar in Clermont-Ferrand.
Hop promises passengers that the modernized E190 seats will have the same level of comfort as those in the A220. However, they do not want to officially present this until the end of May 2024 at the Aircraft Interiors Expo held in Hamburg. The first Hop-E2024s with modernized cabins are scheduled to enter regular service in autumn 190. It is currently unclear whether and when the 13 E170s will also receive a cabin upgrade.
