It was only recently announced that the Lufthansa Group would increase the controversial GDS fee. The competitor Air France-KLM took this step on September 10, 2020, largely unnoticed by the public.

Since then, a surcharge of 13 euros has been due for reservations made via GDS systems such as Amadeus, Galileo or Saber. This increased the fee by one euro. The specialist magazine FVW also reports that the Greek aviation company Aegean is now also using this distribution channel to pay for it. This should take effect on January 1, 2021. Further details on the amount of the surcharge were not given.
