By December 2022, the airline Air France wants to have increased the number of pilots by 700 pilots. This affects both mainline and subsidiary companies flying on behalf of the Skyteam member.

A pilots' union lodged an official complaint with the French government. Among other things, the acute shortage of staff and possible effects on the stability of flight operations and safety will be discussed.

In response to the employee representatives' letter, Air France announced that it would hire around 700 additional pilots by the end of the year. However, no information was given as to where the new pilots should come from. Aviation companies are currently finding it particularly difficult to find staff, as the industry is considered unattractive, partly due to the behavior that many employers have shown during the corona pandemic.

The situation is a little different for pilots, but Air France will have to dig deep to get 700 fully qualified pilots to switch companies. The French aviation company also separated from many employees in the course of the pandemic. Even then, trade unions warned that bottlenecks would inevitably occur once demand picks up again.

” who fly on behalf of the Star Alliance member”. Should probably be called Sky-Team, right?
