Some of the six Airbus A350s that Air India will take delivery of later this year will be fitted with Aeroflot cabins. The background is that these were originally ordered by the Russian carrier, but are no longer allowed to be handed over to them due to the sanctions.
Tata Sons subsidiary Air India secured some of these machines. This will initially be taken over from the factory with an Aeroflot cabin and put into regular service like that. The Indian aviation company doesn't want to wait any longer, because the retrofitting in particular takes a lot of time. It is also believed that capacity needs to be ramped up quickly.
According to the current state of affairs, there are six Airbus A350s that were originally intended for Aeroflot. However, it is still unclear how many of these jets will be handed over to Air India with the cabin of the Russian carrier. In any case, Airbus confirmed that the deliveries of the Russian carrier's former orders are now assigned to the Indian airline. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year.
Just recently, Air India has a long-awaited one Bulk order from the manufacturers Boeing and Airbus given up. Among other things, 210 machines from the A320neo series and 40 A350s were ordered. The competition is, for example, 190 Boeing 737-Max, 20 B787-9 and ten B777X.
