The newly founded state carrier Air Montenegro works in the field of ticket sales with the Danish provider Flexflight, better known as Worldticket. Specifically, this means that in GDS systems, the flights of the start-up are sold via Flexflight and under their flight numbers.
This procedure is quite common, especially with smaller airlines that want to be bookable via GDS systems but shy away from high implementation costs. With Flexflight and Hahn Air there are two industry-leading providers in Europe who specialize in this distribution service.
However, in Montenegro there is also displeasure with the government's actions. The predecessor Montenegro Airlines was sent into bankruptcy and the Ministry of Economic Affairs originally emphasized that the new company would act as the legal successor. This is not the case, however, because Air Montenegro refuses to accept tickets and vouchers that were issued by the predecessor.
The consequence of this is that many passengers who were fobbed off with Montenegro Airlines vouchers in the previous year due to the corona pandemic or who had their tickets rebooked in this year's summer are standing there with tickets and vouchers that are the paper on which they are are printed, are not worth.
While it was originally emphasized that Air Montenegro will be “the legal successor”, the government in Podgorica is now trying to achieve a clear cut. Those who suffer from this are customers who hold vouchers or tickets from Montenegro Airlines in their hands. With these documents, you can no longer book anything with Air Montenegro and so the only option left is to file the claim in bankruptcy proceedings, although the prospects are rather poor due to the high debt of Montenegro Airlines.
