The loan that major shareholder Etihad granted a few years ago can no longer be serviced due to the corona crisis. Now a solution is to be negotiated.

Air Serbia wants to renegotiate: The Serbian airline has informed Etihad that it will not be able to meet its payment obligations on time. The golf airline has a 49 percent stake in the company and has granted it two loans in the past five years. Due to the financial burdens caused by the corona pandemic, these cannot be repaid as agreed, as is the case exyuaviation.com reported.

According to reports, these are in the tens of millions. Etihad has already sent the first signals in the direction of the borrower: The airline is ready to engage in "meaningful discussions" in order to agree a new payment term. Furthermore, at the beginning of the crisis, the Serbian government declared that it wanted to give the ailing aviation industry in the country the best possible support. Overcoming existing losses and tax relief would primarily be pushed.
