Air Serbia plans to renew its turboprop fleet in 2022. The plan is to replace the five ATR72 machines with new models. These are since The Boeing 737-300 is phased outoperated under the Aviolet charter brand, the oldest aircraft in the fleet.

Air Serbia currently operates three ATR72-200s that have an average of 31,4 years under their belt. The two ATR72-500 are around 23,7 years old. According to CH-Aviation.com, the 200 models are owned by Air Serbia. The 500 series are leased from Nordic Aviation Capital. The said lecturer recently had to study a Bankruptcy protection proceedings issued.

Even before the corona pandemic, Air Serbia wanted to buy new turboprops, but the plan was temporarily put on hold. The Ex-Yu-Aviation portal reports, citing internal sources, that it should be ready in 2022. ATR72-600s are currently the favorites, although it has not yet been decided whether they should be bought or obtained from a lessor. In any case, there is no longer a particularly high level of competition in this segment, because the production of the Competing model DHC Dash 8-400 is resting. At most, used aircraft from the Canadian manufacturer could be considered. The targeted volume corresponds to five turbo-props, so that only a renewal and no expansion is sought in this segment. Air Serbia did not want to make an official comment yet.
