The maximum take-off weight of the Airbus A220-300 has been increased by one ton to 70,9 tons. The range increased is increased to 3.550 nautical miles - an increase of 200 miles. This variant is to be used from mid-2021.

Airbus manager Antonio da Costa told the Flightglobal portal that reserve factors in the structure had been dealt with and a corresponding margin had been made usable. The background is probably that major customer Jetblue is interested in using the machine in traffic between Europe and the United States.

There are always discussions about a long-haul variant. So far, Airbus has held back, because the project would also be an internal competition for the Airbus A321LR / XLR. The plans for the stretched version A220-500 are also still on hold. Air France has repeatedly expressed interest in it.
