Airbus' C295 fills a capability niche that is being recognized by more and more customers. Angola has now firmly ordered three C295s, two of which are to be used as maritime reconnaissance and SAR aircraft.

The Airbus C295 twin-engine Turbopro aircraft is winning more and more customers: now the Republic of Angola, located in south-west Africa, has also decided to order the model. Airbus announced today that the country has ordered three C295s for its Air Force (Força Aérea Nacional de Angola). One of the three aircraft will be used for transport missions, the other two as maritime reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft. The country's coastline is around 1.600 kilometers long.

With the two C295 in MSA configuration (Maritime Surveillance Aircraft), the search and rescue service (SAR) is to be ensured at sea. The country also wants to use the aircraft's capabilities for fisheries and border protection. To this end, the two C295 will be equipped with the FITS Mission System (Fully Integrated Tactical System), in which the information from several sensors such as radar and electro-optical sensors converge. The Força Aérea Nacional de Angola is the 38th operator of the type after the delivery of the aircraft.
