The European Boeing competitor Airbus writes deep red figures: In the first nine months, the loss before taxes and interest (EBIT) was 2,2 billion euros, as the Franco-German aircraft manufacturer reported on Thursday. In the previous year, this value was still in the green - 3,4 billion euros in profit were posted. In contrast, sales also collapsed: from 46,2 to 30,2 billion euros.
Nobody in the company should have been surprised by the results, as the aviation industry is currently experiencing the greatest crisis in history. That's why Airbus has to save wherever possible. The group is expected to put 15.000 employees in front of the door, because of the expected severance payments, the group has already set aside 1,2 billion euros. This is reflected in the loss. The aircraft manufacturer sold 341 civil aircraft from January to September, 40 percent fewer than a year earlier.
