Verdi's "permanent warning strikes" at German airports are getting out of hand - for this reason, Hamburg Airport must all planned Cancel departures. Airport Association ADV denounces these measures as inconsiderate behavior towards travelers.

The Verdi union has called for further international airports to be struck on Tuesday. The industrial action, which has been declared as a warning strike, is said to last all day again. After yesterday's strike at six airports, travelers in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden are affected by flight cancellations on Tuesday. The strikes affect the air security controls. Although the airports are not collective bargaining partners, they are directly affected by the economic consequences.

The airport association ADV is uncomprehending to the warning strikes. “The collective bargaining partners belong at the negotiating table, right away. The short-term industrial action means a horror scenario for the passengers, who have no way of preparing for the flight cancellations. The good image of Germany as a travel destination is being damaged at a time when the airports, which have been hit by corona-related losses, are just crossing the bottom of the crisis," explains Ralph Beisel, Managing Director of ADV.

The airports affected by the strike will work together with the airlines and the responsible authorities to prepare for the strike as best they can. Nevertheless, all travelers are strongly recommended to check with their respective airline whether the flight is taking place and to plan sufficient time there. In addition, the airport association ADV recommends avoiding hand luggage if possible in order to relieve the existing checkpoints.
