After a forced break of more than four months, regular passenger traffic at Leipzig / Halle Airport will gradually start again this week. The connection to the Austrian capital will also be reactivated.

The first machine since November 18, 2020 will take off for Hurghada (Egypt) on Thursday, as the airport announced on Wednesday. Further destinations are the Canary Islands, Antalya, Mallorca and from next Monday also Vienna. When restarting, all health protection precautions were taken, passengers could be tested on site, said Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG.

"Now it is crucial that our guests also behave responsibly and consistently observe the distance and hygiene rules - from arrival at the airport, through check-in and flight to their stay at their destination," added Ahmelmann. Condor will resume operations first, followed by SunExpress and Eurowings. The AUA should take off for Vienna from next Monday.
