The Airpower aviation show is taking place again this year in the Austrian town of Zeltweg. The organizers are expecting a very high level of interest. This year, for example, a military pattern from China also has one or the other "exotic" to offer.

Since the event location in Styria can only be reached with difficulty using public transport, the ÖAMTC expects that many visitors will travel by car. Taking into account the fact that there is heavy return traffic at the same time because the summer holidays in parts of Austria, Germany and the Netherlands end in 2022, the airpower on the roads could become tight.

According to the ÖAMTC, the Karawanken Tunnel – Villach – Salzburg – Munich axis will again be the main tourist traffic this weekend. Traffic jams are to be expected here on the A11 before the Karawanken Tunnel, sections of the Tauern Autobahn (A10) in the Flachau – Werfen area and at the Salzburg autobahn triangle and the West Autobahn (A1) before the Walserberg, as well as in Bavaria in sections on the A8 between Salzburg and Munich. Due to the air power in Zeltweg, delays are also to be expected on the Murtal expressway (S36) on Friday and Saturday. In Upper Austria there may be waiting times in front of construction sites on the A9 near St. Pankraz and the A8 near Ort im Innkreis as well as due to controls at the border near Suben.

Due to the end of the holidays in eastern Austria, columns and delays are also to be expected in sections in Lower Austria on the main connections towards Vienna such as West Autobahn (A1), Südautobahn (A2) and Ost Autobahn (A4). There will always be waiting times at the Nickelsdorf border crossing (A4) when entering Austria.

Around 2 spectators are expected at Airpower in Zeltweg on September 3nd and 300.000rd. In order to make the event as environmentally friendly as possible, a comprehensive concept for CO2 savings was developed, which also includes the arrival and departure of the guests. According to information from the ÖAMTC, the number of parking spaces has been halved, and parking tickets must be purchased in advance. In addition, a platform was set up through which car pools can be formed - this way the parking costs, which apply per car, can be shared. In addition, extensive inexpensive public connections are offered by train and bus. Despite all these measures, motorists should plan for delays on the way to Airpower.

Tip: The ÖAMTC sketch below regarding access to the Airpower car parks can be used can be downloaded in full resolution from this link, so that it can easily be available offline on the smartphone when you arrive. Alternatively, this can also be useful in printed form. It is a regular JPG image file, so no additional software is required.
