From September 2nd to 3rd, 2022, Airpower22 took place for the 10th time at the Hinterstoisser air base in Zeltweg under the motto "Above the clouds!".

Europe's largest air show, which is organized by the Austrian Armed Forces together with its partners Red Bull and the state of Styria, was visited on both days by a total of 275.000 visitors in the event area and tens of thousands more onlookers in the grounds. After the international Paul Bowen Award, Airpower22 has now also received a high national award: Airpower22 was named a "nominee" for the special prize for sports events and was thus recognized as one of the best sports events of 2022 by the Austrian Event Awards .

In March 2023, Airpower22 was awarded the prestigious “The Paul Bowen Award of Achievement” by the European Airshow Council as the best international airshow of 2022 at the European Airshow Council Convention in Brussels.

Tanner: "You could feel the enthusiasm!"

"The special enthusiasm of the audience was felt and experienced by all of us during the two days of Airpower22 in September 2022. I am delighted that we, as organizers, have been recognized as nominees of the Austrian Event Awards together with our partners Red Bull and the state of Styria. Our efforts to organize a celebration for the family that also arouses enthusiasm for flying were once again confirmed. Of course, this is also an incentive and an order for the next Airpower in 2024!” explains Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.

Prieler: "I'm proud of our team effort!"

Starting in early summer 2021, Airpower22, Europe's largest air show, was planned down to the last detail for over a year. "Militarily, Airpower22 was not only the largest exercise of the army in 2022, but a real operation. What has to work right away with every Airpower is the cooperation with the international guests from military aviation - be it flying to Zeltweg, supplying the foreign participants, practicing the displays, adhering to common rules of flight safety, a perfectly functioning cooperation the air ground services or working together on the two days of the event under great time pressure. I would like to thank all my employees and I am proud of our team effort, which, following The Paul Bowen Award of Achievement as the best international air show of 2022, has now also been recognized as a nominee for the Austrian Event Award as one of the best sporting events of 2022 ", says Brigadier Wolfgang Prieler, project manager of Airpower.
