Croatia, which is very popular with holidaymakers, has changed its entry regulations without notice. With immediate effect, the green passport must be presented at the border control. Alternatively, negative test results or proof of vaccination or recovery can be used.
The change comes as a surprise and affects holidaymakers who arrive by land in particular, literally ice cold, because according to local media reports, there are already hours of waiting at the border crossings.
According to the Croatian police, the following evidence must be presented upon entry with immediate effect. These should be seamlessly checked in the course of border controls, which are already carried out by default in Croatia due to the fact that you are not a Schengen member:
- EU vaccination certificate ("Green Pass")
- EU recovery certificate ("Green Pass")
- EU test certificate for antigen (“Green Pass”), maximum 48 hours old
- EU test certificate PCR (“Green Pass”), maximum 72 hours old
- Antigen test results, no more than 48 hours old
- Test results PCR, maximum 72 hours old
- Vaccination certificate, e.g. vaccination certificate or certificate
- official proof of recovery
People entering Croatia must be able to present at least one of the above documents. The approach was criticized by the neighboring countries because they were informed about it at such short notice that no preparations could be made.
Previously, Croatia allowed all citizens from EU member states with low incidences to enter the country without any requirements or test obligations. That was changed at short notice without notice to the disadvantage of vacationers.
The "case of Croatia" shows again that travelers should find out about the currently valid entry requirements for their destination country again and again, especially shortly before departure or departure. These can change at extremely short notice - Green Pass or not.
