From June 1, 2021, Austrian Airlines will fly up to twice a day between Vienna and Milan Linate. At the same time, the previous connection to Malpensa will be discontinued. A few weeks ago, the carrier was able to secure slots at the metropolis' inner-city airport.
AUA was also given take-off and landing rights for a connection between Salzburg and Linate, but a spokesman told Aviation Direct that - unlike Vienna - this will not be used. Slots in Linate are extremely popular because the airport is located within the urban area of Milan.
"Linate is much more comfortable for our passengers, especially for business travelers from Milan and the surrounding area," says Sales Director Michael Trestl. A mix of Embraer 195s and aircraft from the A320 family will be used on the route.
