Klagenfurt Airport invites you to an open day on June 24, 2022. Interested parties can take a look behind the scenes at the airport with free entry and free parking. The event begins at 11:00 am and is scheduled to end at 18:00 pm.
The open day marks the start of the summer season and offers a variety of information and impressions for those interested in aviation and beyond. Of course there is information about scheduled and charter flights from KLU. Organizations and associations based at Klagenfurt Airport will present themselves: flight clubs, tour operators, Austrocontrol, air traffic police helicopters, the Red Cross, volunteer fire brigades and others. The Austrian Armed Forces provide information about pilot training.
Both a helicopter flight simulator and a glider flight simulator give a feel of what it feels like to be in a cockpit. But visitors can also take off: the flight clubs and flight schools will be offering cheap introductory flights. Of course, catering is also taken care of, for example with their own "Airport Burger" from Tomi Yama's food truck.
A highlight will definitely be the "Touch & Go" of two Eurofighters of the Austrian Armed Forces: At 14.00:XNUMX p.m., the two interceptors can be admired - and at least heard - during a short touchdown and a traffic pattern! - be, with expert moderation by two experts from the Austrian Armed Forces.
Also announced are the "Caravan C208" and the "T-28 Trojan", two jewels of the "Flying Bulls". The T-28 was built in 1954 and served in the US Navy until 1965. It took no less than eight years of restoration and 30.000 hours of work before the gem could be used in the Flying Bulls fleet. Furthermore, the historic glider pilot SG38 and a "Grunau Baby" will stop by on the occasion of the open day.
