The US airline American Airlines flew in another billion dollar loss in the first quarter of the Corona crisis.

The management expects a deficit of between 1,2 and 1,3 billion dollars, which translates to 1 to 1,1 billion euros. Without positive special effects, such as state financial aid for keeping jobs, the minus would even amount to 2,7 to 2,8 billion dollars, as the company announced on Tuesday. For the full year of 2020, American Airlines posted a net loss of $ 8,9 billion.

Despite the recently improved figures, American Airlines is postponing the purchase of new Boeing aircraft ordered by up to three years into the future. There would be 37 Boeing 787 “Dreamliner” and 737 MAX machines, such as aero.de reported.
