With the ever increasing number of infections in the United States, the fear of renewed corona restrictions is also increasing.

Because that would reduce the demand for air travel again and would have a direct impact on the airlines - and thus also on the employees. How aero.de reports, American Airlines is planning a large wave of layoffs in the fall, which will affect nearly 25.000 people.

Last month the company was only able to take 20 percent of the previous year's revenue. In view of the current precarious situation in the USA, the hope of a market recovery quickly vanished. Today alone, the number of new corona infections has reached a record level: 24 new cases were registered within 67.632 hours.

In the course of the corona state aid, conditions were imposed on the airlines by the government. Among other things, it meets the obligation not to distribute any dismissals to the workforce until September. If it is not possible to get the situation under control, there is a risk of mass layoffs on all fronts.
