In the United States of America, the airline lobbying association wrote a letter to the US Congress to draw attention to the strained financial situation of many airlines. It is requested that a new aid package be created. Otherwise, many jobs would be at risk, according to Airlines for America.
In March 2020, the Trump administration launched a generous aid package for airlines based in the United States. However, this was limited to the end of September 2020 and so far there has been neither an extension nor a new program. As a result, some airlines have already resigned on a large scale.
According to Airlines for America, the situation is critical for some providers and could worsen if demand continues to be weak. They are now appealing to Congress to get a new aid package off the ground. This is currently difficult to do because of Donald Trump's behavior around the outcome of the presidential election.
