Due to the current hurricane, numerous flights at Dutch airports have to be canceled for safety reasons. The lion's share goes to Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport.
The hurricane “Ciarán” contains strong squalls that can be dangerous for aircraft, especially during take-off and landing. After the second highest warning level was declared for parts of the Netherlands and gusts of up to 110 km/h were expected, numerous airlines have decided to cancel their flights as a precaution.
KLM's offer to/from Amsterdam is particularly badly affected. Hundreds of flights were canceled by the carrier, which apologized to passengers in a statement and referred to safety reasons.
