At the end of last week, Iraqi Airways took delivery of three brand-new Boeing 737-Max-8s in just one day. These were transferred from Boeing Field Seattle to Baghdad. The first unit was taken over in February 2023.
On March 24, 2023, the YI-ASX, YI-ASM and YI-ASN took off one after the other from the US manufacturer's factory airport. The first Dreamliner will also follow shortly, whereby for the transfer no specific date has been set yet.
Iraqi Airways has been modernizing its aging fleet for some time. In particular, the focus is on the Boeing 737-Max and 787 models Bought an A220, for example. Taking into account the most recent deliveries, the sub-fleet of the first type has now grown to four units.
Before being transferred to Iraq, the three newcomers completed between three and four test flights, which totaled between five and eight hours of flight time. Then they began their journeys to Baghdad.
