A new airline will take off for the ANA Group next year: the new low-cost airline will be called Air Japan and will mainly fly to Southeast Asia and Oceania.
The new airline is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2023 with a Boeing 787-8 fleet. The ANA Group had already announced a new airline brand in autumn 2020 without going into detail about the name, logo and aircraft design. All of that is now decided: Air Japan will be the name of the new low-cost airline and will appear in blue/pink. Air Japan has been around for three decades. But the subsidiary has so far operated in the background. As a wet lease provider, it mainly flew for its sister companies All Nippon Airways and ANA Cargo and operated as a charter airline.
"We look forward to the launch of AirJapan with a wide variety of services and a very comfortable cabin experience," said Hideki Mineguchi, President of Air Japan. “By focusing on international medium-haul routes, with this brand, ANA Group is better equipped to serve the new trends in international travel at competitive prices. We are proud to be part of a team that is expanding options for travelers while maintaining the same commitment to quality and safety as is common across the ANA Group.”
