After three years, the largest Japanese airline reported significantly better figures for the past first half of the current financial year.

By September 30, 2022, the group had achieved sales equivalent to almost 5,7 billion euros. This resulted in an operating result of the equivalent of around 226,3 million euros and a net result of the equivalent of around 140,53 million euros, as the airline announced in a press release. The ANA Group thus achieved a net profit for the first time in three years.

This positive development is due in particular to the easing of travel restrictions for domestic flights and international travelers. In April, Japan removed more than 100 countries from its "black list," allowing the country to breathe internationally after around two years of severe restrictions. The airline expects more flights in the near future, especially since Japan last month announced the reintroduction of visa-free travel and the lifting of daily entry restrictions.

Accordingly, the ANA Group is revising its financial forecast for the 2022 financial year, as the profit already exceeded the original forecast in the first half of the year. The company is now assuming annual sales of around EUR 12,25 billion (previously: EUR 11,96 billion) and net income of around EUR 288,3 million.
