The Austrian Kayak subsidiary Checkfelix has taken a closer look at the current search queries for the summer of 2022. It turned out that flights to Crete are in particularly high demand.

In second place is Zakynthos, closely followed by Italian Rome. Greece has been very popular with Austrians in recent years, so it is not at all surprising that two destinations in this country are represented on the podium places in the Checkfelix evaluation.

It is interesting, however, that there are regional differences. The people of Salzburg are said to be increasingly looking for flights to Crete, while the people of Styria, Lower Austria and Upper Austria have Paris and Barcelona as favourites. In the field of city trips in summer 2022, Rome ranks at the top. According to Checkfelix, Sri Lanka is the most frequently searched for on long-haul routes.

The ranking at a glance:

  1. Crete
  2. Zakynthos
  3. Rome
  4. Sicily
  5. Kos
  6. Skiathos
  7. Oslo
  8. Reykjavik
  9. Sri Lanka
  10. Preveza
