Laudamotion GmbH is now finally history as an airline, because the return of the operating license and the AOC has now also been officially carried out by the Austrian Ministry of Transport and Austro Control. So the Niki successor is formally no longer an airline.

The flight operations of Laudamotion have already been Definitely discontinued in mid-October 2020. The company announced on December 16, 2020 that the operating license and the AOC returned voluntarily become. This announcement was put into practice and as a result the documents were canceled at the request of Laudamotion GmbH. As a result, this company is no longer an airline. According to company information, Laudamotion GmbH will continue to exist as a company and perform administrative services for group companies within the Ryanair Group on a small scale. Of course, no one said what that was supposed to be.

However, aircraft with Lauda on their fuselage are still in the air. The parent company Ryanair founded a successor based in Pietá (Malta). All A320 aircraft previously operated by Laudamotion now have Maltese registrations. Lauda Europe is not under the supervision of the Austrian authorities, but that of the Republic of Malta. The bases in Stuttgart and Düsseldorf, which were previously operated by Laudamotion, were not taken over and the staff there were dismissed. Lauda Europe has aircraft stationed in Palma de Mallorca and Vienna. Another base is to be opened in Zadar and / or other locations in the 2021 summer flight schedule. It only flies on behalf of its sister company Ryanair DAC and does not operate any scheduled flights for its own account.
