Arajet is a new low-cost airline launched in the Dominican Republic. It wants to take off with five Boeing 737 Max 8s and head for various destinations in America from Santo Dimingo.

The first flight is planned for the first quarter of 2022. The first Boeing 737 Max 8 in the livery of the new carrier left the assembly hall in Renton a few days ago. Originally this machine was intended for Ural Airlines.

Arajet was previously known as Dominican Wings and Flycana. It is considered the most promising airline project in the region. At the beginning, around 30 destinations are to be headed for. In the past, charter flights with the Airbus A320 were carried out under the Dominican Wings brand.

At the helm of the airline is Mike Powell as interim CFO and CEO, who previously worked on the startups for Flybondi and Wizz Air. He is currently CFO of Pegasus Airlines and Volotea. The founder and CEO is Víctor Pacheco Méndez, the founder of Grupo Vimenca and who is still president today.
