Ashwin Bhat becomes the new head of Lufthansa Cargo

The cargo airline Lufthansa Cargo is getting a new CEO in Ashwin Bhat. Lufthansa Cargo will continue to be managed by a three-person Executive Board team. The appointment of the third member of the Management Board, combined with a new distribution of responsibilities, will take place as soon as possible.

"I am very pleased that Ashwin Bhat, a very experienced manager and internationally experienced logistics and freight expert, is taking on this responsible task. As a member of the Executive Board, he made a significant contribution to Lufthansa Cargo being able to record its most successful years in history. As CEO, he will continue to develop the company and expand its strong market position,” said Michael Niggemann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Ashwin Bhat, born in 1969, studied chemistry at the University of Mumbai, India. Bhat started his career with Airline Financial Support Services in India. In 1999 he joined what was then Swisscargo and held various management positions, including in revenue management, transport management and global area management. From 2015, Bhat headed the Cargo division at Swiss International Air Lines. In 2021 he was appointed CCO to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo.
