In Somalia, there was a landing accident at Garoowe Airport with a Boeing 737-500 flying for Air Djibouti. The EY-560 was en route from Djibouti to Mogadishu and made a scheduled stop in Garoowe. The medium-haul jet was wet-leased and operated by Asia Sky Lines from Tajikistan.
A landing gear buckled on landing. As a result, the Boeing 737-500 skidded over the asphalt. One of the engines was in direct contact with the floor covering. According to official information, the incident went smoothly, because all passengers and crew members are said to have left the machine. There is currently no reliable information about possible injuries. What is certain is that there was only material damage to the aircraft, but fortunately not a single occupant was killed.
The Air Djibouti fleet currently consists of four machines. These are a Boeing 737-500 and two Embraer 145LRs. A Boeing 727 is also operated as a cargo plane. The aircraft involved in the accident is around 28,5 years old. This machine is operated by Asia Sky Lines from Tajikistan.
