Despite Corona: The South Korean airline Korean Air wants to take over the smaller, highly indebted competitor Asiana Airlines.

The purchase value amounts to 1,37 billion euros, said South Korea's industry leader on Monday. As soon as the takeover is complete, one can move up to one of the ten largest airlines in the world, like Fliegermagazin Swiss Aviation reported. The approval of the competition authority is still pending. In order to shoulder the acquisition costs, Korean Air plans to raise funds by issuing new shares next year. One rival could outdo the other. A similar scenario has often been suggested in the past by industry experts as a result of the Corona crisis. True to the motto: Survival of the Fittest.
