In the absence of demand from passengers, Asiana Airlines now has the first Airbus A350 to help out as a freighter. In cooperation with Airbus and EASA, a solution was developed and approved to enable the cabin to be used as a cargo hold.

Airbus announced that the 238 economy class seats have been expanded and safety devices for pallets have been installed. This measure increases the maximum cargo capacity to a total of 28 tons. The Korean branch of the European aircraft manufacturer supported Asiana with the conversion.

“We congratulate Asiana Airlines on becoming the first operator to retrofit an A350 with the Airbus solution. In these challenging times, we are pleased to see that our airline partners are moving quickly to address their needs. Airbus continues to strive to support our airline partners by providing solutions for their new requirements ”, Anand Stanley, Head of Region, Asia-Pacific at Airbus.
