In view of the corona pandemic, many airlines are facing an uncertain future. Austrian Airlines can be sure of one thing: CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech will accompany the carrier through this difficult time for at least five years. He extends his working paper until 2026.

His previous contract runs until July 2021. The doctor of physics joined the Lufthansa Group in 2005, and from 2014 to 2018 he managed the freight subsidiary Lufthansa Cargo. In August 2018 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of AUA. His current contract runs until July 2021. In addition to Alexis von Hoensbroech, Andreas Otto and Jens Ritter are part of the extended board of Austrian Airlines.

"Alexis von Hoensbroech, together with his management team, steered Austrian Airlines through the Corona crisis with a sure hand, was able to build a lot of trust in politics and, above all, among employees, and laid the groundwork for a good new start," comments Christina Förster, Chairman of the Supervisory Board the re-appointment of Austrian Airlines AG.

The man does his job just fine.
Only one day he was supposed to give Lufthansa new jets for Austrian.
Austrian is somehow the stepchild in the Lufthansa Group, even in Brussels, the older A330s were swapped for younger ones.
For Aua, the A330Neo and A321XLR would be the ideal device to have, the difference in type rating would be minimal and all A320 pilots could also gain long-haul experience with the A321XLR.
With the XLR you could open up many routes that would otherwise be unprofitable, but above all new destinations in America, Asia, Africa and sun destinations in the Indian Ocean.
But the gentlemen from the Lufthansa Executive Board do not believe in the A321LR / XLR, only Swiss supposedly wants to convert the A321neo still to be delivered into LR.
At the latest when Jet Blue, United and American flies around the ears of Lufthansa in Germany with the thing, you will understand how advantageous the little one is.
