AUA crew misses a minimum distance

The Facebook posting by an AUA aircraft crew is currently making the rounds on social networks. In it, twelve people happily wave at the camera - without losing a single thought of the minimum distance.

A cool cocktail at the beach bar, palm trees and the setting sun form the backdrop: Many Austrians currently want such a scenario. But the tough Covid-19 lockdown makes that impossible. But not for everyone. Because the crews of the Lufthansa subsidiary are still out and about around the world - even if not as often. And there they seem to be having a good time, as a snapshot in the Maldives makes clear. The photo caused great resentment in aviation circles. Not only because in times like these it may not be morally ideal to share such content. But also because of course there could be a risk for the passengers.

On COURIER-The AUA's request was quite relaxed: “Our employees abroad have to adhere to the local regulations or meet the entry requirements. In the case of the Maldives, this is a negative PCR test that must be presented upon entry. All employees were tested negative beforehand, ”says a spokesman for the airline. Incidentally, there is also a one-meter distance requirement in the Maldives. According to the airline, this measure was not circumvented, since the crew is ultimately a closed group and the regulation does not apply in this case.
