The last decentralized Austrian Airlines routes will soon be history, because the Innsbruck-Frankfurt route will be taken over by the sister company Air Dolomiti from the end of October 2021.

This would only leave Graz-Düsseldorf, but this route will no longer be served by Austrian Airlines in the future. Eurowings will take over the route at the latest with the change to the winter flight schedule 2021/22. Since Austrian Airlines has not stationed any aircraft in Graz for a long time, Airbus A319 / 320 and Embraer 195, which were flown in as part of Vienna-Graz circulations, have so far been used. The sister company Eurowings will operate this route from Düsseldorf.

In Innsbruck, not even the aircraft will change for the passengers, because so far Embraer 195s have been used as a rule. Air Dolomiti intends to use this type of machine. The flights to Frankfurt will in future be marketed under both Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti flight numbers.

Austrian Airlines has been on the decline in the Austrian federal states for several years. The fact that the two routes from Graz and Innsbruck are being handed over to the group sisters is, strictly speaking, nothing new. Only the time of the change of operator has been postponed due to the corona pandemic.

Only Vienna flights from Klagenfurt, Innsbruck and Graz

Austrian Airlines now only controls the airports in Klagenfurt, Innsbruck and Graz as part of the feeder flights from / to Vienna. Decentralized routes will very soon no longer exist. For some time now, the carrier has not offered any regular scheduled connections from Linz and Salzburg. The Vienna feeder was relocated to the railways as part of a cooperation with ÖBB.

The former AUA routes Linz-Düsseldorf and Graz-Stuttgart were suspended due to the corona pandemic. In contrast to the route from Upper Austria, Austrian Airlines served Stuttgart from Graz for a few weeks in autumn of the previous year, but stopped again due to a lack of demand. Both routes should have been served by Eurowings since March 2021, but the Lufthansa offshoot has repeatedly postponed the inclusion. Unless postponed again, the two first flights are to be carried out from September 13, 2021.
