Effective March 26, 2023, Austrian Airlines will take over the majority of the Lufthansa Group's air traffic on the Vienna-Frankfurt route. As a result, there will be up to 77 commutes per week between the two hubs in the future.

As a rule, this route is served with the aircraft type Airbus A320. A321, A320neo and Embraer 195 are also used selectively. Until now, Austrian Airlines had up to five daily rotations on this route. In the future there will be up to eleven.

In return, Lufthansa will fly less frequently between Frankfurt and Vienna. Only one daily pair of courses should be carried out by the crane. This is usually served with Airbus A321.
