The so-called VFR traffic is an important pillar of the low-cost airline Wizz Air. However, the carrier has already had to temporarily suspend numerous typical routes in this segment or reduce frequencies.

Some routes are also affected at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. For example, you put the recently recorded Flights to Kukes (Albania) temporarily closed. A fixed date for the resumption has not yet been set. A spokeswoman emphasized that the presence at this airport, which is located near Kosovo, will be maintained.

There are also temporary cuts to the destination Pristina, which was at times the only destination served from Vienna during the corona pandemic. The number of flight frequencies is sometimes being reduced significantly for the time being. The Nis destination in Serbia is also affected.

However, these are not "isolated cases", because due to an acute shortage of personnel, the presence in the territory of the former Yugoslavia is being reduced, in some cases enormously. For example, at the beginning of the month it was announced that there would be no temporary flights from Pristina to Dortmund and Rome, from Tuzla to Milan, from Ljubljana to Charleroi, from Ohrid to Dortmund and from Belgrade to Billund. In autumn, flights between the Serbian capital and Vaxjo and Larnaka will be temporarily suspended.

Wizz Air will soon be making cuts at other airports as well. Vaxjo will also be temporarily hired from Tuzla. In Skopje, the destinations Basel, Cologne, Gothenburg and Friedrichshafen are affected by reductions. From Belgrade, the number of weekly flights to Dortmund and Malmö is being further reduced. Copenhagen and Cologne are served less frequently from Sarajevo. From Ljubljana flights to London Luton have been cancelled, in Banja Luka flights to Basel and Malmö have been reduced. From Podgorica there are fewer flights to Rome and on the Croatian coast the frequencies between Rome and Dubrovnik and between Poznan and Split have been reduced.
