On January 19, 2024, the low-cost airline Ryanair had eight “unruly PAX” on board a scheduled flight that ran from London-Luton to Lanzarote. An unscheduled stopover in Faro was necessary to have the troublemakers disembarked.

The Boeing 737-800 with registration EI-EFE was on its way to Lanzaraote under flight number FR3511. Eight passengers behaved so badly that the captain decided that a stopover in Faro had to be made for safety reasons. There the Portuguese police boarded the medium-haul jet and arrested the troublemakers.

According to reports, they were drunk and, among other things, ignored instructions from the crew, shouted and banged on at least one door of the Boeing 737-800. The arrest is also said not to have taken place without incident, as a male person resisted, so that the executive had to take tougher measures. The flight to Lanzarote was able to continue after about half an hour - without the eight troublemakers.
