Jet2 flight LS895, operated by Airbus A321 with registration G-HLYF, had to make an unscheduled stopover at Vienna International Airport on Monday en route from Manchester to Antalya. According to company information, there was a so-called Unruly PAX on board that had to be unloaded.
A woman apparently lost her mind on board the flight, pacing the cabin yelling at passengers and crew at random. All attempts to calm the lady were unsuccessful, so the captain decided to make a safety landing in Vienna-Schwechat. There the Unruly PAX was taken away by the Austrian police. Jet2 was then able to continue the flight to Antalya.
The company said: "We can confirm that flight LS895 from Manchester to Antalya was diverted to Vienna on Monday morning to allow a disruptive passenger to be offloaded. As a family-friendly airline, we have a zero-tolerance policy toward disruptive behavior."
The airline was obviously uncomfortable with the incident, as all passengers on board received an apology via text message: “Hello, we are sorry that your flight was diverted to Vienna due to the disruptive behavior of a fellow passenger. We are working on a solution so that you can start your onward flight as soon as possible”.
