The last Boeing 767-300ER operated by Austrian Airlines with the registration OE-LAW was flown out on Thursday. As OS1471, the long-haul flight left Vienna-Schwechat airport with the destination St. Athan.
After around three hours of flight time, the OE-LAW has reached its destination in the United Kingdom. There this Boeing 767 threatens to be dismantled for the purpose of obtaining spare parts. Austrian Airlines also sold this machine to a recycler.
The OE-LAW was delivered to Lauda Air in August 1992. The original baptismal name was Ayrton Senna. The aircraft was briefly in service with Lauda Air Italy under a wet lease. In the course of the transfer of almost all Lauda Air machines to the AOC of Austrian Airlines, this Boeing 767-300ER joined the AUA fleet in 2005 and was in the air under the baptized name China until the very end.
In the course of downsizing the long-haul fleet, Austrian Airlines also parted with OE-LAW. This was sold to Monocoque Diversified Interests. The buyer specializes in the extraction of spare parts from used aircraft. The company has also taken over OE-LAX and OE-LAT.
