In cooperation with the insurance companies AXA and AIG, Austrian Airlines is expanding its range of corona insurance. These should cover the costs in the event of Covid 19 illness during the trip or in the event of quarantine or lockdowns.

In addition to the existing “Travel Care” and “Travel Care Plus” packages from AIG Europe SA, additional travel protection is now available with the “Travel Care Basic” insurance package from AXA Partners.

The new “Travel Care Basic” package offers, among other things, quick access to German and English-speaking doctors who can provide initial information on medical questions around the world. In addition, medical costs in connection with a Covid-19 illness or treatment abroad including repatriation are covered. Travel liability and travel accident insurance are also included. If accommodation is required due to quarantine or lockdown, this is insured for up to 14 nights and up to 175 euros per night. Travelers can book “Travel Care Basic” for just 14,99 euros per trip and person until shortly before departure directly on the Austrian Airlines website.

As an option, passengers can also choose between the previous insurance packages. While “Travel Care” includes compensation for passengers in the event of quarantine at their destination or travel cancellation and travel interruption insurance, the “Travel Care Plus” option also covers medical costs in the event of Covid-19 disease up to and including an emergency repatriation.
