Austrian Airlines is building up the management team at the turn of the year. The current Chief Commercial Officer and CFO, Andreas Otto, will leave the Lufthansa Group and face a new challenge. In future, Alexis von Hoensbroech will take care of the financial agendas himself.

The current Swiss manager Michael Trestl will be the new CCO. Germanwings Managing Director Francesco Sciortino becomes Chief Operating Officer. Jens Ritter changes to the management of Eurowings and will take over the function of COO. The manager has only been on the board of Austrian Airlines since the beginning of 2020.

“I very much regret that in Andreas Otto we are losing an experienced industry expert and a valued leader who has played a key role in shaping the Lufthansa Group over many years. I would like to thank Andreas Otto for his many years of successful work and wish him all the best for his future, ”said Christina Foerster, chairwoman of the supervisory board.

Jens Knight will leave Austrian Airlines at the end of March 2021. He worked for Austrian Airlines in management for around five years and was appointed to the board at the beginning of 2020. Ritter will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer at Eurowings. His successor at AUA is Francesco Sciortino, who will move into the governing body on April 1, 2021. He is currently managing director and accountable manager at Germanwings. The Eurowings wet lease carrier is being processed.

“I would like to thank Jens Ritter for five years with Austrian Airlines, during which he definitely left his mark on the Austrian airline through his tireless commitment and high quality standards. I wish him every success in his new challenge at Eurowings, ”says Christina Foerster, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines. "I am delighted that we are proposing Michael Trestl and Francesco Sciortino, two experienced top managers to the Austrian Airlines Executive Board, who will lead the airline out of this crisis with their extensive know-how and the development of Austrian Airlines with passion and motivation and drive for creative drive. I am sure that the management team will successfully steer the company through the pandemic and that Austrian Airlines will emerge stronger from this time ”.

Andrew Otto, who has been heading the finance department in addition to the commercial agenda for some time, will leave the Lufthansa Group at the end of the year. At Austrian Airlines, the position of Chief Commercial Officer is taken over by the current Swiss manager Michael Trestl. The change is to take place on January 1, 2021.

The board department “Finance” will not be filled and will be taken over by CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech as of January 1, 2021. The Austrian Airlines Executive Board will therefore consist of Alexis von Hoensbroech as CEO & CFO as well as Michael Trestl as CCO and Francesco Sciortino as COO.

“My thanks go to Andreas Otto and Jens Ritter. With extraordinary commitment, courage and prudence, you have developed our AUA in recent years, strengthened it and, most recently, maneuvered it through the corona crisis, ”adds CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech. “At the same time, I'm looking forward to working with Michael Trestl and Francesco Sciortino. Both will become part of our company at a very dynamic time. I am convinced that with their expertise we will overcome the challenges of the pandemic and bring Austrian Airlines back on the road to success. "
