Austrian Airlines has been charging rebooking fees again in the Economy Light and Business Saver fare classes since August 2, 2021. However, these are only used if the ticket was purchased from a certain deadline. Regardless of this, a possible tariff difference can always be offset.

Tickets that were issued by Austrian Airlines up to and including August 1, 2021 can still be rebooked at no charge, regardless of the booking class. Only a possible difference in tariff has to be paid. The AUA customer information shows that you can rebook as often as you like.

For tickets issued from August 2, 2021 in the Economy Light and Business Saver classes, Austrian Airlines now charges a “reduced rebooking fee” and any tariff difference. The amount of the expenses depends on the route, so this cannot be given as a flat rate. The charges on short-haul flights tend to be cheaper than on long-haul flights.

On the AUA homepage you can read, among other things: “You have booked your ticket on or before August 1, 2021: If your original travel date is on or before August 31, 2021, you can use your flight for new travel dates until July 31 Rebook 2022. Contact us no later than October 31, 2021. If your original travel date is on or after September 1, 2021, you can choose new travel dates as long as you travel within 12 months from the date of purchase of your original ticket. You booked your ticket on or after August 2, 2021: You can rebook your flight for new travel dates as long as you travel within 12 months from the date of purchase of your original ticket. Depending on your travel tariff, a reduced change fee will apply. The rebooking must be made before the originally planned travel date. "

The aforementioned provisions do not apply if the booking is canceled by Austrian Airlines or postponed significantly. If the ticket was booked before August 31, 2020, it can be rebooked once by October 31, 2021 at the latest. To do this, the service center must be contacted.
