Despite the ongoing pandemic, the Austrian Airlines flight offer was in high demand over the Christmas period 2021/2022. The hot water destinations in the destination portfolio of the red-white-red airline were particularly popular.

The routes to Cancún, Mauritius and Malé, which had already been supplemented with additional flights, had an average capacity utilization of around 85 percent. Due to this high demand, the additional third weekly connection to Cancún in the Mexican Caribbean will be continued from the end of January for the remainder of the winter flight schedule. In total, Austrian Airlines flew more than 17 passengers to their desired destinations during the holiday period from December 10th to January 360.000th.

“In addition to the longing for the beach and sun, the driving factors in the lively air traffic were family and relative visits. During the holiday weeks, there was particularly strong demand for Austrian Airlines flights to North America, within the DACH region and to Eastern Europe, with a large number of passengers also using Vienna Airport to transfer to an onward flight within the Austrian route network - Daughter in a mailing.
