Almost a year ago, Austrian Airlines decided to send the Boeing 777 with the registration OE-LPD to so-called long-time storage in Teruel. Now the long-haul aircraft is to be brought back to Vienna, serviced and put back into regular service.

In the absence of demand, which was primarily due to the sometimes tough entry and quarantine regulations, the AUA management decided that the OE-LPD have to wait for better times in Spain. For this B777 these will now come, reports Austrian Wings. In a Gallery this aircraft can be seen shortly after it was parked.

A spokeswoman confirmed the media report, among other things, with the words: “Probably at the end of January or beginning of February, the plane will be flown out of Teruel and subjected to a comprehensive check. This is followed by re-floating ”.

OE-LPD has been part of the Austrian Airlines fleet since 2007 and bears the name “Spirit of Austria”. At around 15 years of age, this machine is one of the youngest examples of the long-haul fleet of the Austrian Lufthansa subsidiary, which is in some cases aging. The average age has fallen on paper, because the phasing out of three Boeing 767s depressed this a little.
